4.4. Types of binding - variant C of the program
Perfect binding • sheet on sheet (in stack)
The sheets are not folded, only put one ON another (SOS). If we managed to fold the sheets together (all together), then we would get a paper insert with the correct page order.
However, when the folding is replaced with a cut and the stacks created in this way will be stacked one on top of the other according to the folding pattern, it will turn out to be a quick way to put together one piece of work ready for gluing. Pages on sheets are stacked.
Perfect binding • duplicated pages (in stack)
The same PDF-page is reproduced on each side of the sheet (e.g. on the page of the first sheet number 1 it is reproduced x times page number 1, on the second page sheet number 1 is duplicated x times page 2, on the page of the first sheet number 2 it is duplicated x times page 3, etc.) After printing a set of sheets and cutting the whole into individual uses, you get several completed insets ready for gluing, without the need to collect individual pages.
Number of insets = number of uses on the sheet’s page.
Perfect binding • duplicated leafs (in stack)
On each side of the sheet, two same PDF pages are reproduced at the same distance from the cover. After printing the set of sheets and cutting the whole into individual uses, we get several completed insets ready for gluing, without the need to collect individual sheets. Half of the blocks are arranged in order from the last to the first page, half from the first to the last.
Number of insets = number of uses on the sheet’s page.
Saddle stitching • sheet on sheet (in stack)
This system is identical to Perfect binding • sheet on sheet (in stack), but elements typical for the saddle stitching are included. After cutting the set of sheets into "4-Pages" and folding in accordance with the folding pattern, a multi-sheet single-component insert (ready for example for stitching) is obtained.
Saddle stitching • duplicated “4-Pages” (in stack)
On each side of the sheet, two same PDF pages are reproduced at the same distance from the cover. After printing a set of sheets and cutting the whole into single "4-Pages", several completed multi-sheet single-component inserts (ready for example for saddle stitching) are obtained. Number of sets = number of pages per sheet/2.
This system is identical to Perfect binding • duplicated pages (in stack), but elements typical for the saddle stitching are included.
Sewn binding (x "4-Pages" pages in a gathering)
A variation of the binding of the perfect bonded sheets is the binding of "4-Pages".
If the number of "4-Pages" in the gathering will be equal to 1, it is possible to make a perfect bounded "4-Pages", i.e. a multi-component one-sheet insert (instead of gluing single sheets).
Uncomplete gathering
If the amount of "4-Pages" is such that there is an uncomplete gathering (consisting of a smaller number of "4-Pages"), then such a gathering is the penultimate premium in the block by default.
