5.3. Editing folding schemes

Some folding schemes can be edited. Editing is not possible for four-page schemes, as the range of possible solutions in this layout has already been exhausted. Editing of schemes in which full sheets are cut into smaller sheets after printing for further processing is also temporarily unavailable.

Editing the folding scheme involves specifying the position of the 4-page unit – its recto or verso – and the angle of rotation. A manually prepared folding layout is required for editing. The folding scheme editing mode can be enabled using the Folding scheme editing mode option.

When enabled, the program enters a simulated page layout mode for the number of pages that allows generating one full sheet and all possible variants of partial sheets. For example, for 16 pages per sheet, these are: one whole sheet (1×16), one split sheet (2×8) and one split sheet (4×4) – a total of 28 pages. In this mode, all options for changing a split sheet to a form to form sheet are available.

Right-clicking allows you to change the order of sheets and thus the page numbering on individual sheets, which can make it easier to check the correctness of the diagram.

Designing or changing the folding scheme consists in selecting the sheet or sheets to be edited and then changing their parameters using the right-click menu on the selected 4-Page.

Each of the 4-page signatures included in the signature has a recto and a verso – the recto is the page with the lowest page number.

The current type of 4-page (recto or verso), rotation angle, and number of occurrences per sheet are visible in the context menu. Changes in the number of occurrences relative to the state before editing is started are marked in red.

Exiting the edit mode may result in changes being saved temporarily [1] – until the folding scheme is changed in the current session – or permanently [2], by overwriting the template saved on disk.
