1.10. Digital printing – options
Expandable side panel OFFSET PRINT/DIGITAL PRINT contains elements influencing the appearance of the resulting imposition PDF depending on the type of printing: digital printing or offset printing.
[1] If in the program PDF SIZES = SIZES OF THE PRINT FIELD, the resulting PDF-file (or PDF-files) will have the sizes given on the title bar of the program. No additional options are available for this switch position.
Changing the switch value to PDF SIZES = SIZES OF PAPER will change the size of the resulting PDF-file to equal sizes of the selected paper and will cause the availability of a number of options to add additional elements and to change the position of the imposition image on the sheet.
Manual change of paper width and height [3] is possible after selecting from the drop-down list [2] a paper marked as Temporary.
Button [4] is used to change the orientation of the sheet (changing the value of width and height).
If the user will choose the option ADD THE PRE-PRINT: YES [5], that adds uder (or above) image of the imposition content of the indicated PDF-file - and this PDF will be double-sided, the first page of the file containing pre-print will be used on the pages of the odd sheets, and the second page will be used on even pages. Possible remaining pages are not taken into account. The own should be saved in the folder MyImpozycjoner/Pre-print/Digital.
Pre-print in digital printing is centered on the paper. It can be used to place customised elements on the sheet that are not drawn by the program Impozycjoner.
Switch [6]: ADD EVEN PAGE TO HALF PRESS SHEET: YES enforces the generation of an even side on double-sided printing by the side or front mark - a partial sheet. It is helpful while printing on duplex digital devices. The image of the even page generated in this way is the same as the odd-numbered page.
Putting on the switch GENERATE SHEETS WITH DESIGNATION OF USES: YES [7] will generate additional imposition sheets with Code128 codes printed on the pages with the encoded (and explicit) name of the file from which the pages placed in those uses come from. The PDF file has the same name as the basic imposition file, but with the phrase „--SUMMARY” added to the original file name. Applies only to the assembly of leaflets.
Expandable panel [8] contains elements regulating the imposition of imposition on the sheet.
Quick change of paper size
If you want to quickly generate an imposition PDF-file whose size is equal to one of the sizes of digital printing paper, you can use the pull-down button of the menu START THE IMPOSITION for this purpose.
After pressing the arrow on the right side of the button, a list of available paper sizes will appear - in vertical and horizontal orientation. Selecting any item will generate imposition files with selected sizes.
Adjusting the print field on the sheet
Additional options for digital printing are mainly used to eliminate the error of printing the even and odd side of the page - with the change (in digital machines with different technical margins (e.g. left 3 mm, right 5 mm)).
Thanks to the options [1] - [8] you can generate a PDF-file with the paper size on which the work is to be printed, with the imposition image shifted by the appropriate value in mm (top <> bottom, left <> right) [5] [6]. For double-sided PDF-files, the position of the imposition image on paper can be adjusted independently for each page (even<> odd).
Adjusting the position of the imposition image is possible after selecting the sizes of the resulting PDF-file equal to one of the paper formats available on the drop-down list and consists in determining the move of the center of the imposition image in relation to the central position.
Switch [4]: EVEN PAGES: SYMMETRICALLY/EVEN PAGES: INDEPENDENTLY is used to specify how to shift the imposition image on the second (even) side of the sheet (applies to two-sided prints). If he has a condition EVEN PAGES: SYMMETRICALLY, this image on the odd side is shifted on one of the axes in the opposite direction, depending on the edge selection [7], along which the sheet will be translated to the other side (symmetrically).
Switch DRAW MOVING AXIS [8] allows you to draw on the sheet (under the impositioned pages) two lines: the dotted line shows the center of the sheet, the solid line shows, if the imposition center has been moved on the sheet.
Adjusting the width of the last cut
Element [1] it is used to change the position of the imposition image on the sheet so that the last cut of the sheet when cutting out works - it resulted in felling with the width determined by the element [2]. The last cut with a precise width is required by some models of bookbinding machines.
Switching on element [1] causes the image of the sheet to be moved in the opposite direction than indicated by the feed edge. The feed edge is the edge that the paper feeds into the printer and against which it will be translated to the other side - it applies to double-sided prints (digitally printed).
Switch [3] with the last regulation cut off - centers the imposition image on the sheet.
For two-sided prints (by side or front mark), the move on the even side is symmetrical in relation to the move on the odd side.
