5.11. Convert bitmaps to pdf
Convert bitmaps to pdf is a function that is used to convert raster formats (jpg, jpg2000, gif, png, tif, bmp) into pdf pages. The size of the resulting page can be calculated automatically (based on the resolution of the raster file) or can be entered directly (manually).
If the dimensions of the resulting PDF page are specified directly, there are two conversion methods available, depending on the state of the Turn on cropping toggle [2].
- When the toggle is off, both dimensions of the graphic are adjusted to the new sizes, which may result in distortion [3].
- When the toggle is on, the graphic is cropped to the new dimensions. One dimension is scaled to the new size, and the other – if larger – is cropped to remove the excess part [4].
The figure illustrates the differences in behavior depending on whether the Turn on cropping toggle is enabled or disabled.
You can convert a single file or all files in the specified folder. In the example below, each bmp file has been converted into a single pdf file.
The generated pdf pages can be combined into a single pdf file.
